Join us for an important and thought-provoking discussion exploring the reality of sexual abuse and sexual violence for older victim-survivors. Amanda Warburton will be presenting findings from her MA research on supporting older survivors of sexual violence. This research involved interviews with professionals who had supported older survivors to identify key barriers to disclosure, and seeking support alongside examples of best practice that could improve the journey to recovery for older people who have experienced current sexual violence and abuse.

Meet The Panelists:
Danny Tatlow
Danny Tatlow is Hourglass’s Research and Policy Officer. Having joined the charity when it was Action on Elder Abuse, Danny’s role is focused on policy analysis and development, engaging in quantitative and qualitative research projects, and working with Hourglass data to broaden our understanding of how violence and abuse affects older people, their families, and society as a whole. Before joining, Danny worked on research projects at the Citizens Advice Bureau, as well as developed a key understanding of victim survivor and perpetrator trends, needs, and dynamics during his MA focused on mass violence events.
Amanda Warburton
Amanda Warburton-Wynn is an independent researcher, consultant and trainer, specialising in abuse of older people and people with disabilities. Amanda has had several research papers published and led projects around Domestic Abuse and Carers, people with learning disabilities and is part of a team from UCL trialing interventions specifically for older survivors. Amanda also delivers part of the Older People’s Violence Advisor qualification through Safer Places.
